The Year of Knots
Cotton rope, polypropylene rope, satin cord, copper pipe, copper nails
10 x 30 ft
First edition
Commissioned by Meta’s Facebook Open Arts in 2017 and installed in Menlo Park, CA
In 2016, I taught myself one new knot each day of the calendar year. I posted a photograph of each knot, along with its name and a description of its original function, to social media. After the work was completed at the end of 2016, Meta Open Arts invited me to join their Artist in Residence program and recreate The Year of Knots (2016). The work is permanently installed on their campus.
